To provide Driver/Messengers in the private and public service with the requisite skills to carry out their duties in an efficient, safe and courteous manner.
Course Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the importance of their role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the organization
- Develop skills to provide better customer service to internal and external clients
- Communicate confidently and effectively with their manager, colleagues and customers
- Plan, organize and manage their time more effectively.
- Describe the procedures for managing the delivery and receipt of mail.
- Outline steps in the maintenance of the vehicle used to carry out their duties
- Interpret areas of legislation and standards which speak to traffic and safety
- Discuss ways to minimize injury and strain at work
- Review their driving skills to ensure safety on the road on assigned tasks

- Your Role in the Organization
- Responsibilities & qualities of a driver messenger
- Ergonomics for the Driver/ Messenger
- Executing mail & parcel deliveries (handling incoming & outgoing mail)
- Documentation (e.g. vehicle logbooks, delivery documents, delivery book)
- Business etiquette & customer care
- Road traffic safety, rules and regulations
- Vehicle care & maintenance(use and care)
- Pick-ups & drop-offs (e.g. airport, hotel, residence pick-ups & drop-offs, school runs); Practicals.
